Che was supposedly killed by either a CIA agent or the Bolivian army. There are reports of him being executed by the Bolivian army, which certainly makes sense. In the documentary we saw the CIA agent in question. Perhaps it was ordered by the CIA agent and carried out by the army. That would explain the confusion. Some would argue that Che faked his death with ketchup and now hides away in Mexico waiting for his chance to strike at Fidel IN VENGEANCE! but that, I believe, is just silly.
From what I figure, the one who had him executed is responsible for his death and the ones who executed him...er...killed him. Yeah. That's pretty straightforward. It's kind of sad, but Che brought himself into this risky lifestyle. He knew the risks of hiding out in Bolivia.
